Jeremy Banning BEng (Hons), MA
Welcome to my website. I am a military historian and researcher specialising in the First World War. My primary interest is the Battle of Arras (April/May 1917) and underground warfare.
I have co-authored a number of books on battles on the western front as well as acting as principal researcher for many others as well as radio and television programmes. I am a founder member of the La Boisselle Study Group – a long term, detailed archaeological and historical investigation into a unique segment of First World war battlefield. I have an in-depth knowledge of the archives in the Imperial War Museum and National Archives and amongst other projects, acted as historical researcher for Channel 4’s Time Team Special ‘The Somme’s Secret Weapon’ detailing our search for remains of the extraordinary Livens Large Gallery Flame Projector on the Somme in May 2010. The programme was broadcast on Channel 4 in April 2011. I am currently working on a new television project for broadcast early next year.
